Licenses for the provision of mobile communication services of the VimpelCom group cover an area with a population of nearly 237 million people. The network’s geographical coverage encompasses 77 Russian regions and the entire territory of Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Georgia. COMSTAR-United TeleSystems, one of Russia’s largest communications operators, was founded in May 2004 through the merger of Comstar, MTU-Inform, and Telmos.

Rostelecom is the national long-distance communications operator. The company provides services based on its own telecommunications trunk network, which extends some 200,000 kilometers connecting all Russian regions. Rostelecom transmits the major share of intercity and international traffic and operates land-based network of TV and radio broadcasting channels.

Since September 2004, KaR-Tel has been a member of the Russian VimpelCom group of companies.

Ekaterinburg Cellular Communications renders mobile communications services of the AMPS/DSMPS - 800 and GSM-1800 standards in Ekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk Region.
