Construction of World’s Third Largest Data Warehouse in Terms of Volume at OJSC VimpelCom
Project Tasks
The primary goal of the project was to provide the company’s marketing divisions with integrated information on mobile communications subscribers. Particular emphasis was placed on the potential for viewing the history of a subscriber’s activities over several years. There was also a need to optimize and unify corporate reporting.
Chosen Solution
Construction of a DWH – a large-scale information bank. This is a closed-loop system in which online analytical processing of data from all of the company’s operating systems (including CRM systems) takes place. Analytics is the foundation for making the right management decisions governing the activities of all of the company’s divisions.
Project Implementation
The implemented system was initially adapted for the billing system in use at the company; therefore, the solution was successfully implemented in the shortest possible time with minimum redesign.
Results Achieved
A single point of entry for all information users was created during project implementation, allowing different departments to speak a common language and operate with unified data.
Key Success Factors
Any data warehouse implementation project of this scale is complicated for the integrator. Heightened attention to the project by OJSC VimpelCom’s management and close cooperation with key business users helped AT Consulting specialists to successfully overcome any difficulties.
