Data Mining System Implementation for OJSC VimpelCom

At a certain stage in its development, VimpelCom needed help in solving strategic business problems such as carrying out analysis and research on customer relationships (behavioral analysis, client base segmentation, and designing new products and services) and conducting personalized marketing campaigns (cross- and up-selling; customer retention)

Chosen Solution

A Data Mining system is one of the essential elements of a customer relationship system and for collecting and managing customer information. Clementine software from SPSS was selected and used as the Data Mining software.

Project Management

Implementation of this project was made possible thanks to an existing data warehouse (BIIS), which was also being supported and expanded by AT Consulting specialists. The BIIS collects and structures detailed information on each customer and is the main data provider for the Data Mining system. Clementine software makes it possible to generate powerful forecasting models for solving formulated business tasks and process large amounts of data.

The project was implemented in two phases: the first phase involved implementation and setup for business users, and an upgrade of the system’s information capacity was proposed in the second phase.
